Luthando is a 17-year-old girl who struggles with connecting with her autocratic father, who has changed her life her completely, taking her away from everyday life and imprisoning her inside the house she once considered a home but sees as prison now. Luthando blames him for the death of her mother through suicide. When Luthando starts having schizophrenic episodes, she decides on hiding them from her father, out of fear that she’ll end up just like her mother...depressed and dead. Luthando has Luyanda who is her best friend and the one person that allows her to be herself, the one person that bring her a sense of happiness and comfort. The nights she sneaks out the house to go clubbing with him and the nights when she smokes weed by her window, these are all the secrets she keeps in a box under her bed. When she has a real episode infront of Luyanda, she begs him to keep her progressing schizophrenia a secret from her father, out of desperation since the episodes have brought nothing but joy and freedom to Luthando; and she not planning on having her father take these moments of freedom away from her.
